      IRS Audit Representation

A tax assessment letter is received when the IRS is questioning or need more details on what has been filed on your return, or if tax information is missing. For example, a W-2 for an employer has been omitted or education expenses could not be verified through the university reported on your return. With our services, for each year that our company prepared your tax returns, we will assist with resolving your tax assessment. Fees only apply, if you did not prepare the tax year in question with us. Either way, we would gladly help you understand and resolve your tax matters. To make the process easier, please make sure to keep your return(s) and all tax documentation for the appropriate number of years. Visit our Record Retention Guide under Resources to determine the amount of time for your situation. However, keep in mind that the IRS could go back further if fraudulent activity is suspected.

On the years filed with us, we have the ability to call on your behalf, if needed. You simply forward your tax notification to us and we will respond on the process on how to proceed. Keep in mind that these notifications are time-sensitive so to give adequate amount of time to research and respond back to you, fax or scan/email within 30 days of receipt.

      Non-Filed Tax Returns

Let us give you a peace of mind by helping you file your delinquent returns. Before anything can be done to extract you from this predicament, you must be current tax returns. When the IRS realizes you have neglected filing your return(s), they will be filed with little or none of the deductions or credits you are entitled to receiving. In most cases, you will likely owe taxes, interest, and penalties after the returns are filed. Once we see how much is owed, we'll set a course of action based on your personal situation.

      Back Taxes Owed

You are current with your filed returns but owe taxes that you are unable to pay. Do not ignore your balance due because the tax penalties and interest can quickly add up. Fortunately, there are several options that we can discuss with you when it comes to resolving unpaid taxes. Unfortunately, it will not eliminate out of pocket payments to catch up, unless your current situation dictates hardships to allow you to qualify for an Offer In Compromise.

      Offer In Compromise

The Offer In Compromise program allows taxpayers to settle with the IRS on tax debt that has been incorrectly assessed or for liabilities they cannot afford to pay. It may be possible to fully and completely eliminate the taxes you owe - including all penalties and interest.

Offer In Compromise is available and we can prepare them in our office but this option must be approved by the IRS. (NOTE: They will need access to a lot of your personal information before determining if they will grant approval.) Once the form is submitted, there is no guarantee on the outcome.

      IRS Payment Plan

Our company can assist and provide guidance with setting up a payment plan with the IRS. This gives you a little more time to pay off your tax debts. Unfortunately, penalties and interest will continue to be charged on your outstanding balance as you pay the debt off. You are required by law to pay the interest on your tax debt.

      Innocent Spouse Relief

By requesting innocent spouse relief, you can be relieved of responsibility for paying tax, interest, and penalties if your spouse (or former spouse) improperly reported items or omitted items on your tax return. Generally, the tax, interest, and penalties that qualify for relief can only be collected from your spouse (or former spouse). However, you are jointly and individually responsible for any tax, interest, and penalties that do not qualify for relief. The IRS can collect these amounts from either you or your spouse (or former spouse).

If you qualify for this relief, our company will discuss the details and the process with you. We will figure out your tax responsibility, if any, after the Innocent Spouse Relief form has been filed.
